FREE assistance for parents, guardians and other care providers in preparing children (from birth to age 5) for early education success.

For four Saturday mornings during the months of September through November parents, grandparents and childhood professionals received insights for preparing their children for early childhood success. The Collierville Connected Affordable Preschool Committee sponsored the event at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church.

In the first three sessions behavior and speech specialists, the local children’s librarian, and special and exceptional needs experts shared straightforward and engaging teaching and coping techniques. Britt Collins, author and Pediatric Occupational Therapist, explained the sensory system and suggested coping techniques and resources for parents of children with senior challenges.

The final session consisted of members of the Collierville Schools’ (CSC) administrative and instructional staff sharing what they’ve seen and learned over the years. Panel members included Debra Herring, Louise Claney, Crystal Hayward, Shelly O’Daniel, Lauren Baker and Jenna Gavroian (Germantown Schools).

As an added bonus, members of the Collierville Junior Auxiliary provided extensive play, do and learn experiences for the children.  Other supporters included West Collierville Middle School BETA Club, AARP Chapter 5449, Collierville NAACP,  Collierville United Methodist Church's  Resource Redistribution, Princess Project ministries and Perkins Restaurant.

On opening day, Pastor LaDaryl Odum sent a live invitation to the community.
